History & Concept – Tradition meets modern living
Das Adler has been welcoming you since September 01, 2025! It took 2 years of planning and almost 3 years of construction to make the 18th century Gasthof Adler fly again. The
extensive renovation included a core refurbishment of the entire building, a complete extension on the east side and the addition of a residential floor.
On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, the golden eagle invites you to stay above the historic rooftops of Markdorf. On the first floor, a culinary restaurant welcomes you within old walls but in new
splendor. A former bowling alley in a historic vaulted cellar has become the scene bar of Markdorf.
A total of 14 1-room apartments, two 2-room apartments and two 3-room apartments have been created on 3 floors. The total of 18 apartments are divided into 6 different categories, which differ in
room size and room layout while offering the same facilities and comfort.

We offer our guests the greatest possible comfort and flexibility when travelling. You can enter Das Adler and move into your apartment independently, regardless of opening hours.
For our discerning guests, all apartments have the comfort of a hotel and at the same time the size of a holiday apartment. A separate, fully equipped kitchenette, a cosy seating area and the special decor offer a feel-good ambience like at home as well as more flexibility on holiday.
‘Meet and Great’ is the motto here - local guests meet an international audience. The hotel's own terrace with views over the southern part of Markdorf towards Lake Constance and the mountains is
open to all guests. The special ambience invites you to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun or a glass of wine at sunset.
Location & Surroundings – Central, with views over Markdorf and Lake Constance to the Alps
The Adler is located in the historic centre of Markdorf directly on the market square, surrounded by the old town, the church and the town hall. The apartments have a great view of the town's green area, the Gehrenberg or, to the south, of Lake Constance and, in part, the Alps.
The central location in the centre of the pedestrian zone of Markdorf with its 14,000 inhabitants makes the car almost superfluous. Shops, bakeries, butchers and much more invite you to enjoy the
old and new Markdorf. Markdorf offers a wide range of restaurants and bars for breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening entertainment.
Public transport is also just a few minutes' walk away. The railway station with direct connections to Friedrichshafen, Überlingen and Radolfzell is a 10-minute walk away. The many stops on the well-developed bus network, including to Salem, Constance and Ravensburg, can also be reached in 5 minutes.
Markdorf is ideally located for holidaymakers between Überlingen, Meersburg, Friedrichshafen and Ravensburg. You can quickly reach the countryside on foot, go hiking in Deggenhausertal, mountain
biking on the Gehrenberg or strolling and swimming on Lake Constance. You can reach Lake Constance with its numerous outdoor pools and promenades in a short time via cycle paths and hiking
trails, even without a car.
Das Adler is also ideal for business travellers, as all major companies in Markdorf, such as Weber, Wagner, Alpla and Wälischmiller, are within walking distance. Friedrichshafen with the
airport, the trade fair centre and the companies Zeppelin, ZF and MTU/Rolls-Royce as well as Immenstaad with the company Airbus or Überlingen with the company Diehl are only a few minutes' drive
away.
